Evaluation of the Knowledge Level of Dental Students and Dentists about Oral Manifestations associated with COVID-19

The COVID-19 causes, beyond respiratory symptoms, oral manifestations that aggravate the patient's clinical condition. Thus, the objective is to determine the level of knowledge of dental students and dentists about the oral manifestations associated with the Covid-19. A questionnaire (self-administered) was carried out on the Google Forms platform for dental students, from the 6th period, and dentists. The questionnaire contains 10 multiple-choice questions. Subsequently, the data for each question were classified into percentages of correct answers, eros and "didn't know". The majority of participants were female (72%). Over half (55%) of the respondents are aware of the connection between the virus and the receptor. 56% know the ways that trigger the changes. 90% know at least one way of them. And 59% knows the relationship between broad-spectrum antibiotics and the emergence of oral candidiasis. In addition, 55% of the participants know that the drugs used in patients with Covid-19 cause oral changes. 60% of the participants are clear about the origins of co-infections. 84% of the participants are aware of the relationship between the interfaces psychic and emotional. It is concluded that most dental students and dentists have a moderate level of knowledge about oral manifestations related to Covid-19. However, there is still a need for continuous updates and training on COVID-19.
