Introduction: Lipoma is a benign tumor composed of mature adipose cells, which has no defined etiology for the development of the lesion. The involvement in the maxillofacial region is rare, however, occasionally they can be found in the tongue, buccal groove, mucosa, lip and oral floor. The diagnosis is clinical, and the treatment consists of the total surgical removal of the lesion. Objective: The objective of this study is to report a clinical case of lipoma in the oral floor treated by means of complete surgical excision of the tumor. Materials and methods: Male patient, 58 years old, presented an increase in volume in the right oral floor, without alteration of color, asymptomatic, with 3 years of evolution. Results: Computed tomography showed a lesion with fat density, compatible with a lipomatous nodule, whose treatment was the complete surgical removal of the lesion, confirming the definitive histopathological diagnosis of lipoma. The patient was followed up for 6 months with no signs of recurrence of the lesion. Conclusion: The knowledge, by the dentist, of the clinical and imaging presentation of this type of lesion is very important in the management of oral lipomas. The benign characteristics of the tumor lead to a more conservative surgical removal, yet providing an excellent prognosis.
