Abstract

Background: Correlating the Brunelli Test, ultrasound findings and intraoperative findings. Methods. A retrospective study based on a review of medical records evaluated 22 patients with DeQuervain's Tenosynovitis who were treated surgically, evaluating the positivity of the Brunelli test and the ultrasonographic and intraoperative findings. Results. All selected patients had a positive Finkelstein test at diagnosis. There was a statistical difference for the positive Brunelli test and the presence of anomalies in the first extensor compartment (p<0.001; Chi-Square Test) by ultrasound examinations and for the changes observed intraoperatively (p<0.001; Chi-Square Test). Surgical findings confirmed the presence of ultrasound changes in these patients (p<0.001; Chi-Square Test). Conclusion. We concluded that the positive Brunelli test was related to anomalies in the first extensor compartment.
