Frontal Bone Reconstruction using Titanium Mesh: Case studies.

Frontal bone fractures are caused by high-energy trauma and are commonly associated with middle third fractures, such as: naso-orbito-ethmoidal (NOE), zygomatic-orbital complex and maxilla. They are classified as fractures of the anterior or posterior wall, with or without displacement, and fractures of the drainage tract of the frontonasal duct. Computed tomography (CT) is the gold standard for diagnosing these fractures. Treatment is surgical (except in cases of fractures without displacement or where the patient does not complain) and requires the use of plates/screws, titanium mesh and/or biomaterials for filling in cases of bone loss. The aim of this paper is to describe two cases of patients with frontal bone fractures who were treated using titanium mesh to recover the anterior projection, anterior plate fractures of the frontal bone. In both cases, the aesthetic and functional results were satisfactory. Based on the literature consulted and these cases, the installation of titanium mesh and recovery of the anterior projection of the frontal bone, via coronal access, proved to be effective and safe.
