Lesiones Y Traumas Faciales en Mujeres Víctimas de Violencia de Pareja y el Abordaje del Dentista

Incluso con el paso del tiempo y la lucha por la igualdad de derechos, la sensación de poder de los hombres sobre las mujeres sigue siendo notoria. Esta percepción falsa y perjudicial conduce a una alta tasa de violencia contra las mujeres, incluso por parte de sus parejas. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar las características de las víctimas, los agresores, las lesiones y los traumas causados por la violencia de pareja (VPI), así como desarrollar un protocolo de atención eficiente y consolidar el conocimiento en el campo para ayudar a los profesionales en este enfoque. Esta es una revisión bibliográfica de artículos publicados desde 2018 en las siguientes bases de datos: PubMed, ScieLO, BVS, Google Scholar y la OMS. La VPI puede ser física, psicológica o sexual, afecta principalmente a mujeres negras con bajo nivel educativo y el agresor está altamente asociado con el abuso de sustancias como el alcohol y las drogas. Esta violencia resulta en lesiones y traumatismos recurrentes en el rostro. Los dentistas deben poder abordar y derivar adecuadamente a las víctimas de violencia. Deben existir protocolos de detección específicos para las víctimas de VPI, y el enfoque debe ser confidencial y seguro. El hueso nasal es el más afectado en las víctimas de violencia de pareja, quienes con frecuencia son personas negras, con bajo nivel educativo y en edad reproductiva. Es importante que los profesionales de la salud inviertan en mejorar su atención a estas víctimas.
